In determining a sanction for violating the Community Standards, the Dean of Students, or designee, may consider the student’s present demeanor, past student conduct record, the nature of the misconduct, and the severity of any damage, injury, or harm resulting from the misconduct or other factors. More than one sanction may be imposed for a single violation. Sanctions do not become effective until the appeal process is completed.

Sanctions are identified based on precedence, severity, and impact (on self, other, or community), with a four-tiered model in place.

  • Level 1: Mild Severity and/or First-Time Violations
    • Sanction Example: Warning, Education
  • Level 2: Moderate Severity and/or Repeated Violations
    • Sanction Example: Probation, Reflection Essay, Restrictions
  • Level 3: High Severity and/or Repeated Violations
    • Sanction Example: Suspension, Campus Restriction
  • Level 4: Extreme Severity and/or Repeated Violations
    • Sanction Example: Expulsion, Trespass

The Dean of Students, or designee, may impose the following sanctions upon any student found to have violated the Community Standards.
